Educational Curriculum and Pedagogy

The Early Years Framework: Being, Belonging, Becoming is the National Curriculum Document for Early Childhood Education and Care Services. It ensures that learning is Play Based and Child Centered. The Framework guides all curriculum decision making that occurs within our preschools.

The Early Years Learning Framework identifies five learning outcomes. We intentionally plan and reflect upon children’s learning across all outcomes to ensure they reach their potential, not just in school, but for life.

The outcomes are:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity.
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
  • Children are confident and involved learners.
  • Children are effective communicators.

Educators work in partnership with children and their families to design engaging learning experiences by following children’s interests to invite deeper learning.

Each team, led by University Trained Teachers, collaborate on curriculum planning utilising the diverse strengths and interests of each educator.

Of course, learning is occurring everywhere at preschool. Educators are engaged directly with children in their learning. Educators and children must select which learning to actively document. Children, assisted by educators, document their own deep learning on certain lines of inquiry in Floorbooks (A2 books large enough for a small group of children to engage with on the floor). Educators also document other important individual learning digitally in the child’s Summative Assessment (in their Google Drive Folder). You will receive an invitation to your child’s Google Drive folder. We can make arrangements to print documents for families who do not use the internet.
